The stone on the fireplace was heavy and darkened the living room. The mantel was very undersized for the weight of the fireplace.

The granite is consistent with all the other countertops, the dark tile at the bottom balances and gives weight to the new sleek look and the new mantel not only breaks up the large wall space but also adds balance.
